About Me – The Story of Grit, Growth, and a Relentless Drive to Help Business Win

Growing Up on a Dairy Farm: Where I First Learned Grit

I was raised on a dairy farm, where the days started early, the work was relentless, and there was no such thing as a day off. I won’t pretend I worked as hard as my parents—because I didn’t—but I watched them every single day. It didn’t matter if it was freezing cold, blistering hot, or if they were sick as a dog. The cows still needed to be fed, the work still needed to be done, and they never once complained.

Looking back, that’s where I truly learned the meaning of grit. Hard work wasn’t optional—it was just part of life. And that mindset stuck with me.

The Military: The Hardest (and Best) Decision I Ever Made

A lot of people have deep, profound reasons for joining the military. Mine? I just wanted to get the hell out of my small town and forge my own path. I had no idea how much I would learn about myself in the process.

The military didn’t just teach me discipline—it showed me what I was capable of. I learned that when you think you’ve hit your limit, you’ve probably got 40% more in the tank. And most importantly, I learned that the team always comes first. That mindset—pushing past limits and putting others before yourself—became the foundation for how I approach business and life.

My 19.5 Year Journey at DIRECTV: Finding My Leadership Voice

For nearly two decades, I had the privilege of building my career at DIRECTV, an incredible company that truly invested in its people. DIRECTV’s commitment to leadership development and personal growth shaped who I am today, both professionally and personally.

In my role as Senior Area Director managing an area touching four states, I discovered something powerful: inspiring others to be their best selves wasn’t just a skill—it was what I was drawn to do. Through leadership programs, mentorship, and opportunities to grow, DIRECTV helped me find my leadership voice.

  • I learned that great leadership isn’t about control—it’s about empowerment.

  • I realized that coaching and mentoring others brought me the greatest fulfillment.

  • I saw first hand how investing in people creates stronger teams, businesses, and communities.

DIRECTV set the foundation for everything I do today—helping business owners grow, scale, and unlock their true potential. That passion for leadership and impact is what drives me, Take Point Marketing, and the entire Unstoppable Visionaries movement.

Our First Business: A Struggle That Almost Broke Us

After my time in Corporate America, my wife and I opened a brick-and-mortar DIY home décor store. It was supposed to be fun—building something we loved, serving our local community, and making a great living.

Instead, it was a brutal reality check.

We struggled. A lot. Some months, we had to pull money from our savings just to keep the doors open. We started questioning whether we had made a huge mistake. We weren’t failing because we didn’t work hard—we worked our asses off. We were failing because we didn’t know how to market.

So, I decided to fix that.

I immersed myself in marketing, learned everything I could, and started applying it. And it worked. We turned the business around and eventually sold it for a huge profit. That experience changed everything.

Why I Started Take Point Marketing

That business was the turning point. I realized that most small business owners aren’t failing because they lack passion or work ethic—they’re failing because they don’t have the right strategy.

And that pissed me off.

Nobody works harder than a small business owner trying to feed their family by the sweat of their own brow. They put everything on the line—their time, their money, their sanity—because they believe in what they’re building. They deserve to win! But most of them just need a little help and direction to turn the corner.

That’s why I started Take Point Marketing.

Not just to help businesses get leads or run better ads, but to give business owners back control. To help them stop feeling like they’re drowning and start building the business they always dreamed of.

One thing I have learned since launching Take Point is a lot of business owners don't have the budget to hire a marketing agency yet. They are bootstrappers driving forward on grit and strong coffee. I needed a different way to serve these businesses if I wanted to make the impact I dream about. Here's why...

The Mission: Why I Show Up Every Day

I believe small business owners are the backbone of this country. When they win, families win, communities grow, and entire industries shift.

But right now, the game is rigged.

  • Corporate giants have unlimited budgets and entire teams of marketers.

  • Small business owners are left to figure it out alone.

  • Marketing "experts" charge ridiculous fees for strategies that don't work

It doesn’t have to be that way.

You don’t need a million-dollar budget to succeed. You just need the right system, the right guidance, and a willingness to take action. That’s why I created The Growth Code—to give business owners the playbook for winning. And that’s why my team at Take Point Marketing is here—for those who want an expert partner in the fight.

If you’re a business owner who’s ready to stop guessing and start growing—I’m here to help. Let’s build something unstoppable!
